Kazushi Kimura fired his mount Big City Lights past a pair of dueling leaders, then went on to score a smashing eight and one-half length victory Saturday at Del Mar in the Cary Grant Stakes.

The Chosen Vron has been turned out for several months after an issue was found in his ankle last month. The chestnut gelding is expected to fully recover with a little time off and will return to the races next year according to trainer J. Eric Kruljac.

Seven California-bred fillies and mares will greet the starter at Del Mar Sunday in the Betty Grable Stakes.

He has five victories on his ledger and more than $440,000 in the bank and ran second in this sprint last year to the California champion The Chosen Vron, who was a back-to-back winner of the Grant.

Vibez came running in the lane Sunday at Del Mar and registered a length and three-quarters triumph over nine other 3-year-old fillies in the allowance feature on the Jimmy Durante Turf Course.
