“Dude” vs. “Belief” Showdown
In $1-Million TVG Pacific Classic Sunday

DEL MAR, CA – Like an old-fashioned gunslingers showdown, the old pro Game On Dude will take on the quick-on-the-draw “kid” Shared Belief here Sunday in the 24th edition of the $1-million TVG Pacific Classic.

Their race-within-a-race was highlighted Wednesday night a nearby Rancho Valencia as the draw for post positions unfolded. The 3-year-old Shared Belief drew post 11 in the 11-horse lineup and was made the 5/2 morning line favorite for the Grade I headliner. Seven-year-old Game On Dude, who won this race last year in record-setting fashion, drew post 5 in the mile and one-quarter testing and was listed right behind his younger rival at 3-1.

The TVG Pacific Classic will be the 10th of 11 races on the Sunday Del Mar card, which also features two other Graded stakes. The NBC Sports Network will broadcast the race live from 5 to 6 p.m. (Pacific) with post time scheduled for 5:46 p.m.

Next on morning-line-maker Russell Hudak’s listing at 9/2 is Gold Cup at Santa Anita hero Majestic Harbor, who’ll break from post 7. He is followed by a pair of runners at 8-1 in Clubhouse Ride (post 9) and Irish Surf (post 2).

The 11 stakes stars will compete for a first prize of $600,000 and Grade I black type. The winner also will earn a “Win and You’re In” prize toward the nation’s richest race – the $5-million Breeders’ Cup Classic, which will be run this year at Santa Anita on Saturday, November 1. The TVG Pacific Classic winner is guaranteed a spot in the starting field for that race and will have all his entry fees paid.

The TVG Pacific Classic field – in post position order with rider, trainer and morning line odds – is listed below:

First post for the big card Sunday will be an earlier-than-usual 1 p.m.
