Thanksgiving Day dining in the exclusive Turf Club at Del Mar has returned this year. Last year’s reaction to its initial presentation was very positive leading to a return of the special holiday arrangement this coming Thursday.
The track will present an eight-race program on Thanksgiving starting with a first post at 11 a.m. In conjunction with it, fans can choose either a brunch or full dinner in the fourth-floor Turf Club that provides them a deluxe meal with libations and a view-friendly Turf Club table for the day.
The Thanksgiving dining package, which costs $100 per person, provides Turf Club admission and table, along with a choice of a full brunch or dinner (see menu below), as well as bottomless mimosas or champagne, using the track’s elegant Chandon brand. The meals have been specially selected – and will be prepared – by the track’s executive chef Barry Schneider. They include, naturally enough, an option for turkey with the trimmings.

Proper Turf Club attire is part of the package. Those dress regulations require that men wear suit jackets or sport coats and ladies wear dresses, skirts or pant suits.
Besides the Turf Club dining option, fans also can choose a fine Thanksgiving meal at any of the regular trackside restaurants -- Clubhouse Terrace, Veranda Café, Red Star and Stretch Run Grill. Freshly carved turkey breast, Yukon Gold mashed potatoes, cranberry cornbread stuffing, Connelly Gardens green beans amandine and sage gravy will be available at only $19.95. For only $7 more, diners can finish up the tasty fare with a piece of Sweet Cheeks Bakery fresh pumpkin pie with a dollop of cinnamon whipped cream.
