Del Mar’s regular collection of food and drink special days – like “Tacos & Tequila,” “Uncorked: Del Mar Wine Fest” and “Taste of New Orleans” – has a new running mate joining in the fun this summer as Del Mar introduces “Savory Sundays,” starting with opening weekend and going all the way through to closing day on Sunday, September 7.

“Savory Sundays” will highlight a different local restaurant each week presented in the track’s popular Plaza de Mexico where unique food offerings will be available along with drink specials and live music to add to the atmosphere.

Here’s the lineup for the “SS” happenings starting on July 20: Brandt Beef (Bar-B-Q); July 27: Pizza Port (Pizza Truck); August 3: Ranch 45 (Sliders); August 10: Tambayan (Asian inspired Kobe Burgers); August 17: Monarch Ocean Pub (Coastal California Cuisine); August 24: Lia’s Lumpia (Spring Rolls & Mahalo Shaved Ice); August 31: Pamplemousse Grille (Duck Tacos & Kobe Beef Sliders), and Sunday, September 7: TBA.

Along with the fine dining treats from neighborhood favorite eateries, the afternoons also will offer $5 Kona Beers and $10 off select Signature Drinks. The festivities begin when the gates swing open on all Sundays.

Additionally, the track once again will feature its highly favored array of food, drink and fun afternoons starting with the “Del Mar Beer Fest” on Saturday, July 19. In its path will follow “Uncorked: Del Mar Wine Fest” (Saturday, August 2); “Tacos & Tequila” (Saturday, August 9); “Taste of New Orleans” (Saturday, August 23); “Family Fun Day” (Sunday, August 31), and “College Day” (Saturday, September 6).

For those fans who are early risers, the track offers San Diego’s most unique breakfast opportunity with “Daybreak at Del Mar,” each Saturday and Sunday between 7:30 and 9 a.m. Fans can sit in the trackside Clubhouse Terrace Restaurant, enjoy a bite to eat and watch the amazing equines go through their paces in workout sessions right in front of them. “Daybreak” is free to all.
