Applying the finishing touches to a Pick Six carryover of $125,176 into Del Mar’s Saturday racing program, Royal Trump, the longest shot in the field at 34-1, rallied to win the featured event Friday at the seaside oval.

Registering the fastest six furlongs of the fall Bing Crosby season, Royal Trump, under jockey Edwin Maldonaldo, won by two and three-quarter lengths in 1:08.34 over the main track.

Truck Salesman was second, Candy Cornell third and Parsimony fourth in the field of seven sprinters. Withdrawn were Adens Dream, Touching Rainbows and Street Vision.

Royal Trump, a four-year-old son of Ministers Wild Cat, is owned by Rodney E. Orr and trained by Mark Glatt. The win, his sixth in 21 career outings, was worth $71, $18 and $6.20 to his backers. Runner-up Truck Salesman paid $7.20 and $4.40, while Candy Cornell returned $3.60 to show.

Post time for the first of ten races Saturday is 12 noon, the card featuring four graded stakes topped by the Grade I $300,000 Hollywood Derby. The Pick Six will commence with the fifth race.  The meeting concludes Sunday.
