Robinson Wins More Than $100,000 in Prizes in the July 23 & 24 Del Mar Handicapping Challenge

Ed Robinson of Moody, AL took the lead in race 8 and held on to the win by the slimmest of margins in the 13th annual Del Mar Handicapping Challenge. Charles Davis from Seattle, WA, was the hard luck 2nd place finisher by a mere $29. Robinson turned his $5,000 live money bankroll into $21,334 while Davis finished with $21,305. Robinson vaulted into the lead with Race 8 exacta and trifecta cashes paying more than $13,000.

First Place was worth $75,000 in prizes including a $10,000 entry in the Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge (BCBC) at Santa Anita in November. Along with his $21,334 bankroll winnings plus entry in the $2.5 million National Handicapping Championship (NHC), total prize value amounted to over $100,000. In addition, a win for Robinson in the BCBC will be worth another $1 million bonus as 58 players paid an extra $100 each to buy into this special bonus pool.
