Pick Six Pays $26,895 to Seven Bettors Saturday at Del Mar

Cecile’s Diamond scampered home a smart winner in the nitecap at Del Mar Saturday and trigged a $26,895 payoff to seven bettors playing the seaside track’s $323,875 Pick Six. Tyler Baze rode the filly for trainer Kristin Mulhall and the 3-year-old paid $7.60 to win.

The popular Pick Six – which began the day with a $33,871 carryover from Friday’s card -- drew $290,054 in “fresh” or “chase” money and wound up as a sizeable target for horseplayers from far and wide.

Though the main pool was taken down, the Single Ticket Jackpot pool was not and it will mean Sunday’s Pick Six will begin with $40,457 starter fund.

The earlier winners in the bet were:  (4th Race) Monster Man (rider Tyler Baze) paying $11.80 to win; (5th Race) odds-on Mastery (rider Mike Smith) winning the featured Bob Hope Stakes at $2.60; (6th Race) Gangster (Drayden Van Dyke) at $11.80; (7th Race) Bobby Abu Dhabi (Norberto Arroyo, Jr.) at $6.40, and (8th Race) Perfectly Majestic (Victor Espinoza) at $12.80.

Sunday’s nine-race card is off and running at 12:30 p.m.
