Nine older fillies and mares bred in California will take their turn in the Del Mar spotlight Sunday in the $100,000 Betty Grable Stakes at seven furlongs over the seaside track’s main dirt oval.

Post time for the first of nine races Sunday is 12:30 p.m. Racing will continue Monday, Veterans Day, featuring two-year-old fillies in the $100,000 Desi Arnaz Stakes at seven furlongs.

Lining up for the Betty Grable Stakes will be Mo See Cal, Martin Pedroza; Love a Honey Badger, Tiago Pereira; Just Grazed Me, Tyler Baze; Spiced Perfection, Flavien Prat; Show It N Moe It, Rafael Bejarano; Meet and Greet, Drayden Van Dyke; One Fast Broad, Ruben Fuentes; S Y Sky, Joe Talamo, and Gorgeous Ginny, Geovanni Franco.

Just Grazed Me, a daughter of Grazen trained by Phil D’Amato, returns to the sprint distance over which she won the Fleet Treat Stakes impressively last summer, defeating Show It N Moe It and One Fast Broad, second and third, respectively. She also was runner-up in the Torrey Pines Stakes. Stablemate S Y Sky, like Just Grazed Me a daughter of Grazen owned and bred by Nick Alexander and trained by D’Amato, also should attract support after a second behind Love a Honey Badger in the California Distaff at Santa Anita last month, her first outing in more than a year.

Love a Honey Badger, highweighted at 124 pounds, was claimed for $40,000 in late June by trainer Peter Miller and has displayed steady improvement, culminating in her triumph in the California Distaff.
