Graded stakes winner Hey Nay Nay heads the field of two-year-olds in Sunday’s $100,000 Grade III Cecil B. DeMille Stakes going one mile in the turf. The Cecil B. DeMille is part of FanDuel Racing Turf Festival on closing day at Del Mar.
Hot off a three race winning streak, Hey Nay Nay entered the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf on October 31 and pressed the pace to the far turn, where he weakened to a 10th place finish. A gate-to-wire winner in both of his first two outings going five furlongs on the turf, Hey Nay Nay was then stretched out to a mile and won the Grade III Del Mar Juvenile Turf on September 7. Trained by John Sadler for Hronis Racing LLC and Iapetus Racing, the No Nay Never Colt is 4-3-0-0 with $166,000 earnings. He will have the services of Flavien Prat.
Graham Motion sends out Proton, a gelding who won his debut on August 20 at Colonial Downs by three lengths. The winner of Laurel Park’s Laurel Futurity going one and a sixteenth miles, Proton was second by one and a half lengths in the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance stakes at Del Mar on October 31. Owned by Stone Farm LLC, Virginia Racing Club, et. Al, Proton is 3-2-1-0 with $167,500 in earnings. Juan Hernandez takes the call.
