Del Mar, Uber Team Up for Transportation Partnership

Two of the leaders in their fields – Del Mar on the racing front and Uber, a technology company connecting riders with drivers – have teamed up for a partnership that will make going to – or coming from – a day at the races fast, easy and affordable.

The seaside oval announced its connection with the rapidly-growing technology company today, noting that it now features a dedicated “Uber Zone” on its grounds that allows for yet another travel option beyond the track’s “Where the Turf Meets the Surf” theme song that states “….take a plane, take a train, take a car….”

The Del Mar Uber Zone is on Jimmy Durante Blvd. just south of the main entranceway into the track’s primary parking lot. It allows for easy access to the track via tram or by a short walk.

“We want to give our fans as many options as possible to come join us at the track,” said Del Mar Thoroughbred Club executive Walker McBride. “Uber is a convenient and popular way to go these days and we’re delighted to be able to work in concert with them to provide a quick and ready route to the races.”

Uber service is available through their app, which provides riders a quick and reliable way to connect with drivers to get where they need to go.

Del Mar is planning further enhancements to its Uber arrangement for its summer meet in 2017, as well as its Breeders’ Cup session next Fall.
