Del Mar Confirms It Will Race Friday as Storm Clears

Dirt Starting Gate

With blue skies and sunshine making a local comeback, Del Mar officials confirmed Friday morning that its planned nine-race card would be conducted as scheduled this afternoon with first post set for 12:30 p.m.

The Friday card – which will be run only on the main track, termed “good” to start the day – is headlined by an allowance feature that has drawn a field of nine. The likely favorite is LNJ Foxwoods’ Madman, who’ll race out of leading trainer Richard Baltas’ barn with Flavien Prat in the irons.

Del Mar’s Saturday and Sunday cards both will begin at 12 noon with 10 races scheduled each day and seven Graded stakes worth $1.3 million highlighting the action.
