
Dave Chenvert from Rosemount, MN, turned his $4,000 starting bankroll into $33,790 on day one of Del Mar’s signature two-day event, the 23rd Annual Summer Challenge. Dave scored with a massive $300 trifecta in the 9th race for a $32,000 payout to launch into the lead.
Day one second place finisher with $19,805, Alan Hoffman of Tarzana, CA, and Chenvert both win an entry to the $4,000 Pacific Classic Betting Challenge (PCBC). The PCBC is Saturday, August 22, played at Del Mar or online through Xpressbet.com or TVG.com featuring the $1 million Pacific Classic race along with three other Graded Stakes races.
Rounding out the top four are Wendy Long of Surrey, Canada with $18,876 and Christian Hellmers, from San Diego, with $18,072.
The on-track only Challenge drew 107 entries from top players from throughout the country. Participants are vying for $214,000 in total prizes. The top 10 finishers receive a combination of prizes including cash, six entries to the $10,000 Breeders Cup Betting Challenge at Del Mar, plus entries in the National Horseplayers Championship and PCBC.
