The 33rd edition of the Generous Portion Stakes will highlight a Labor Day card at Del Mar Monday as nine 2-year-olds bred in California will battle for the top prize in the $100,000 affair that will go as Race 10 on an 11-race afternoon program.

The test, which will be contested over five and one-half furlongs, is part of the 2025 Golden State Series, a collection of 31 races for California-bred runners worth a total of $3.825 million and run over the course of the year at racetracks in Southern California. This one is limited to 2-year-old fillies bred in the state.

The key for the Generous Portion entrants is the CTBA Stakes, run at the shore oval on August 3. Four of the runners in that race are back to take a go at the Generous Portion, including the two, three and four finishers in a dash that saw the horse who finished first – My Love Caroline – disqualified and placed fourth in the five-furlong feature.

Reddam Racing’s homebred Jasmina, who had been beaten only a nose in the CTBA, was placed first in the roughly run contests, while the third-place finisher (Lovingier, Moroney or Ryan, et al’s Tapatia Mia) and the fourth-place horse (Hall Racing and West Point Thoroughbreds Liberation) were each moved up a notch in the placing.

Here’s the full field for the race in post position order with riders:

Tapatia Mia (Ruben Silvera); Legacy Ranch’s Mohaven (Hector I. Berrios); J. Kirk and Judy Robison’s What’s a Good Name (Juan Hernandez); Jasmina (Kyle Frey); J K Racing Stable’s My Kat (Diego Herrera); Windy ridge Stables’ Too Sassy (Umberto Rispoli); Cinema Thoroughbreds and Griffin Stables’ Cara Rose (David Cohen); Liberation (Antonio Fresu), and Edwin Alvarez’s Lino’s Angel (Tyler Baze).

In addition to the Generous Portion, the track also will present $100,000 overnight stakes dubbed the Tranquility Lake, a one-mile spin on the main track for fillies and mares. It has drawn eight runners.

The Generous Portion goes as Race 10, while the Tranquility Lake will be presented as Race 8.

First post for the Labor Day card is at 1:30 p.m.
