Griffin Racing’s Bit’s Tiger Magic bolted out of the gate and never looked back in a wire-to-wire runaway in the Thursday afternoon allowance feature event at Del Mar.

The California-bred 5-year-old mare by Smiling Tiger zipped the five furlongs on turf in :56.14 under leading rider Juan Hernandez and came away a winner by a length and three quarters.

Peter Miller saddled “Magic” for her fifth score in nine starts and a winner’s share of $63,960.  Hernandez has ridden the chestnut in all five of her tallies.

Finishing second was James Downey’s Rethink, who had a half length on Lee’s Baby Girl, owned by the group of Arroyo, Mata or Sanford, et al.

The winner returned $13.60 to her backers as she pushed her bankroll to $262,632.

Racing will resume at Del Mar Friday with first post set for the usual 2 p.m.
