Eight Juvenile Fillies Clash in Sorrento Stakes Wednesday

Eight talented two-year-old fillies, all of whom were victorious in their most recent races, will clash Wednesday in the 47th running of the Grade II $200,000 Sorrento Stakes, major steppingstone to the Grade I $300,000 Del Mar Debutante on Saturday, Sept. 5.

Probable favorite in the six and one-half furlong sprint is Pretty N Cool from the powerful stable of trainer Bob Baffert. Pretty N Cool, a daughter of Scat Daddy, won her only start in impressive style, running five furlongs in a fast:57 4/5 under Martin Garcia who has the call again Wednesday.

Also sure to have support are Uptown Twirl (Victor Espinoza) and Stays in Vegas (Rafael Bejarano). Uptown Twirl, from the first crop of Twirling Candy, won a Santa Anita maiden race in :57 1/5, while Stays in Vegas, a daughter of City Zip, scored in an Oak Tree-at-Pleasanton stakes by six lengths in her only outing.

Completing the line-up are Right There, the Landaluce Stakes winner with Kent Desormeaux; Gomo, Mario Gutierrez; Undisputed, Flavien Prat; Sooner Time, Corey Nakatani, and One True Kiss, Tyler Baze.

Post time for the first of eight races Wednesday is 2 p.m.
