Halo Dolly Tops 9 In Solana Beach 'Cap
Speedy and consistent Halo Dolly, a winner of 11 of 20 starts in her career, heads a field of nine older California-bred fillies and mares in Sunday’s 19th running of the $100,000 Solana Beach Handicap at one mile over the infield Jimmy Durante Turf Course.
Halo Dolly, a daughter of Popular to be piloted by Joe Talamo, comes into the Solana Beach off a game effort in the Osunitas Stakes in which she was beaten only a half-length while running third behind Broken Dreams and Byrony. She will pack highweight of 122 pounds Sunday
Among Halo Dolly’s foes will be A Jealous Woman, a wire-to-wire winner July 29 at Del Mar on the grass under regular rider Brice Blanc, and Antares World, who outran her 46-1 odds in deadheating for second with Briecat behind Quiet Oasis in the Grade III Wilshire Handicap at Betfair Hollywood Park in late April. Antares World, who will be piloted by Kevin Krigger, is now trained by Jeff Mullins.
Completing the Solana Beach line-up will be Magic School, Martin Pedroza; Sparkling Style, making her turf debut under Rafael Bejarano; Unusual Hottie, Garrett Gomez; Logical Single, Martin Garcia; Warren’s Jitterbug, Mike Smith, and Blendara, Agapito Delgadillo
Post time for the first of nine races Sunday will be 2 p.m.
