Streiff Leads After Day One in the $200,000 Del Mar Handicapping Challenge

 

Mark Streiff of Mission Viejo, CA and Jeannie King of Valencia, CA, were the top two finishers on day one of the 12th annual Del Mar Handicapping Challenge. Streiff finished the day with $34,039 and King was second with $16,815. Both participants will receive an entry into the Del Mar November Challenge, a $4,000 buy-in on November 14 & 15 during Del Mar’s Bing Crosby Season.

Players started the day with a $4,500 live money bankroll in the two-day Challenge. Streiff catapulted into the lead in race 5 hitting a $3,276 trifecta six times plus the $488 exacta fifteen times for winnings of over $27,000 in the race.

More than $200,000 in prizes is at stake. First Place takes home $60,000 plus a full $10,000 entry in the Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge. The top ten finishers after Sunday’s races will all receive entries in the Daily Racing Form/NTRA National Handicapping Championship in January with an expected $2.5 million in prize money.
