Del Mar Workout Events

DAYBREAK AT DEL MAR

When:   Every Saturday & Sunday, 7:30-9:30am

Early risers have a chance to catch morning workouts and breakfast in the Clubhouse Terrace Restaurant every Saturday and Sunday during the season.

From 7:30 to 9:30 a.m., trackside announcer and former jockey Jeff Bloom will provide you behind-the-scenes information while you get an up-close look at many of your favorite horses while they tune up for their next race.


A $9.95 buffet with many breakfast favorites is offered.


To attend, park in the main lot off Jimmy Durante Blvd., then proceed through the Clubhouse entrance to the second floor. There is no charge for admission to the event, but an $8 parking fee applies. (Those buying two or more breakfasts will have the parking price deducted off the price of their bill.)

TURF TO SURF 5K RUN

When:   July 28, 2002, 8:00 am
Where: Del Mar Racetrack

Del Mar presents its sixth annual 5K Run/Walk and Kids 1K with a special appearance from famous miler Steve Scott.
Race starts at the West end of the Grandstand, continues along the coast of Del Mar and ends back in the
racetrack infield where there will be a post race party and a chance to watch the horses in their morning workouts.
Park inside the Main Gate from Jimmy Durante Blvd.



Participants receive a high quality T-shirt, two free admission passes to the races, and goodie bag.



Fees:

5K Run/Walk $18 - late fee $22

Kids 1K (10 & under) $10 - late fee $12

(Late if postmarked after Friday, July 19)

DONUT DAYS

When:   Saturdays, July 26 and August 23, 8 - 10 am
Where: Seaside Terrace

Join us for free donuts, coffee and orange juice as you take a behind-the-scenes look into the world of Thoroughbred racing. Track announcer Trevor Denman will host the festivities which include question and answer sessions with famous jockeys and trainers while watching the horses during their morning workouts.

Donuts Days are held from 8:00-10:00 a.m. in the Seaside Terrace area at the West end of the Grandstand.

Other activities include face painting, caricatures, and free prizes for the kids. Also, enter to win a Family Fun Pack.
