The arrangement dubbed the "Ship and Win" program was responsible for attracting more than 100 horses from other racing jurisdictions during the track's 37day meeting helping it to increase its field size and causing a positive ripple effect for other Southern California race meets.

Last year the track guaranteed all horses that raced at the meet who had started outside California in their previous outing a check for 1000 plus a further bonus of 20 added to whatever purse monies they won in that first local start. This year's enhanced version of the program still will offer the 1000 checks to horses who qualify but additionally will up the purse bonus to 25.

Foremost among the track's showcase events will be the 22nd edition of the 1000000 TVG Pacific Classic a 10furlong testing for 3yearolds and up that will anchor a stakes tripleheader program on Sunday August 26. The Grade I headliner was captured in 2011 by Eclipse champion Acclamation and he's considered a solid candidate to try for the prize again in 2012.

The two racing entities who already are in a racing partnership surrounding the 1million TVG Pacific Classic have agreed to an additional multiyear arrangement for the network to produce both Del Mar's daily live race feed for broadcast to simulcast customers throughout the Western Hemisphere as well as a separate broadcast feed for ontrack customers during the track's 37day season.

Both broadcasts will utilize TVG personnel and the ontrack feed will have High Definition components with a goal of expanding all of the broadcast coverage including its Fox Sports regional telecasts to HD in the near future. Currently Del Mar's simulcast signal is sent to over 1000 locations throughout North and South America.

TVG will continue in its role as the exclusive broadcast provider of racing at Del Mar via daily telecasts on cable and small satellite outlets throughout the United States.
