Lady Of Cheyenne Wins CTT & TOC Handicap
Masterfully rated on the lead by jockey Joe Talamo, Lady of Cheyenne led from wire-to-wire to win Friday’s featured $88,500 CTT and Thoroughbred Owners of California Handicap for older fillies and mares.
Lady of Cheyenne, a Kentucky-bred daughter of Tiznow, breezed to the lead in the first few strides of the mile and three-eighths race over the infield grass course and never was seriously threatened in scoring by five and three-quarter lengths.
Left a Message, the lukewarm 5-2 favorite in the field of seven, rallied well in the stretch to be second, a half-length in front of Thisismystage, with Quaintly fourth.
Lady of Cheyenne, a four-year-old filly owned by the Southern Comfort Stable and Scott and trained by Vladimir Cerin, accomplished the marathon trip in 2:13.50 and returned $8.80, $4.80 and $3.60 after registering her third triumph in nine races. First prize of $53,100 for her initial added money success boosted her earnings to $160,910.
Left a Message paid $3.80 and $3.40, while Thisismystage returned $3.60 to show.
There were no perfect tickets in Friday’s Pick Six so Saturday’s program will feature a carryover of 104,772. Ten races will be presented Saturday with the Pick Six beginning in the fifth race. Post time for the first race is 2 p.m.
