Amazombie Captures Bing Crosby Stakes

Amazombie, the 2011 Breeders’ Cup and Eclipse Award sprint champion faces 2011 Del Mar Sprinter of the Meeting The Factor and three others in the Grade I $300,000 Bing Crosby Stakes on Sunday (July 29) at Del Mar.

Prior to the Ancient Title, Amazombie was third in the Bing, Crosby which was the first of three straight starts at his preferred 6-furlong distance.

Three starts into a 2012 campaign targeted for a Breeders’ Cup Sprint defense on Sunday, November 3 at Santa Anita, Amazombie has a victory in the 6 ½ furlong Potrero Grande in April at Santa Anita and runner-up in the 7-furlong Churchill Downs Stakes on Kentucky Derby Day as highlights.

The Factor, owned by Bolton and Fog City Stable and trained by Bob Baffert, nailed down Del Mar’s sprint honors for 2011 with a win in the 7-furlong Pat O’Brien Stakes.
