PALOMAR HANDICAP
$200,000, Grade II, 3-y-o, f & m, 1 1/16 (T)
TYLER BAZE (Gotta Have Her) – “She’s just a joy to ride. Jenine (trainer Jenine Sahadi) has done a wonderful job with her. And she knows what she’s doing. She knows just what she’s doing. Jenine says she gives 110%. I think it might be 120%. Or maybe 150%. You’ve got to love a horse like her.”
ALEX SOLIS (Lethal Heat) – “She’s as game and competitive as they come. She ran so hard. I’m proud of her.”
RAMON DOMINGUEZ (Carribean Sunset) – “I don’t know if it was that she needed more pace, or that my filly was a little slow getting with it today. She kicked, but we were a little too late.”
JENINE SAHADI (Gotta Have Her) -- “I think she’s fabulous; I just adore her. She gives 110 percent every time she runs. I usually don’t run horses back quite so soon [she was second in the John C. Mabee August 16], but it was either this race or go two months to the next one. I had some anxiety about coming back so soon, but I guess it turned out OK. It’s been quite a project to get her to relax and settle out there, but it was great to see her settle behind that slow pace today.”
