OCEANSIDE STAKES
TYLER BAZE (Afleet Eagle) – “Vladimir (trainer Vladimir Cerin) told me he’d be fresh and to go to the lead with him if I could. If not, he said, just sit there and see how it goes. When we were going down the backside, he was just cruising. He had his ears up and flipping around and he was saying ‘This is fun.’ Then when I asked him, he was gone. I just squeezed on him a little bit and he put on an amazing turn of foot. And this is off a layoff. He’s running like that off a layoff. He’s a really nice horse. He’s a Del Mar Derby type for sure.”
COREY NAKATANI (Mark S the Cooler) – “He ran great. No complaints. The winner just slipped away. The farther the better for my horse. Distance will be no problem.”
JOEL ROSARIO (Rendezvous) – “He came running in the lane. I had a little trouble early, but he kicked well. When we go farther, he might like it.”
ALEX SOLIS (Meteore) – “He didn’t have it today. No excuses. He just didn’t have it.”
VLADIMIR CERIN (Afleet Eagle) -- “He showed he liked synthetics, so I didn’t think he’d like the grass, but this was the only place to run. I’ll see how he comes out of the race and then make plans. I’d like to enjoy this one with Mr. [Ron] Waranch. We could run in the [Del Mar] Derby [Sunday, September 6]. I’d like to win that race. This is a pretty neat horse; he’s pretty impressive. We have a lot of options.”
