Oak Tree Juvenile Turf

DEL MAR, CALIFORNIA                             WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 4, 2013

JULIEN LEPAROUX (Diamond Bachelor, winner) No special instructions for me. He (trainer Patrick Biancone) just said try for a good break, then see what happens from there. He broke well and he wanted to go, so I let him go. When hes happy, Im happy. Ive been getting on him for a while now and hes a nice horse. A very nice horse.

RAFAEL BEJARNO (Ontology, second) He wants to lug in at the start and he did it again today. But we got going and he ran well. We were just second-best this afternoon.

MARIO GUTIERREZ (Home School, third) It was a good race for him.

PATRICK BIANCONE (Diamond Bachelor, winner) -- We let him roll a little bit more this time. Hes very fast from the gate anyway so I told Julien (Leparoux) just get him out of there and then do what you do in the mornings. Timing the next step properly is now important. I think Im going to stay on the turf with him this year. Next year will be different. This horse can win the Derby. He is one of the best at (his) age Ive ever trained. (That said), its a long way from the cup to the lips.

SPLITS:  :21.97  :46.00  1:10.33  1:22.17  1:34.36
