Milk 8$ per gallon?

Postby Thinkinproblem » Thu Dec 27, 2012 10:29 pm

Local news reports say if the farm subsidy bill is not renewed milk prices will skyrocket. How much do you pay in your region? Where I live it is just above 3$ per gallon. Scary stuff--not just milk would be affected.

I hope lawmakers can figure something out to keep the subsidies in place for farmers. I haven't consumed powdered milk for probably 40 years.
"The bill approved in Congress to avert the so-called fiscal cliff would bring the first major tax increase on high earners in 20 years."

Remember just a few months ago when the fear mongers at Fox Noise were saying that gasoline was going to 5 bucks a gallon? Remember when a fool said Iraq was a threat?

I am just curious about what you heard on the news and if you can remember how this news was presented.

Was it something like this:

"Milk prices may skyrocket!!!!!!" "More about that after these messages!!" And then did they go to a commercial?

One question to all

Why does an adult need to drink milk.

Another great success of government intervention. Farm subsidies. The ability to get rich for doing nothing.

Or eat cheese, or yogurt, or cream soup, or ice cream or anything else involving dairy products?

If an farm bill isn't passed, price supports for milk revert to a Truman-era formula, based on an era when cows were milked by hand and the expenses of producing milk were way higher in adjusted dollars.

Even without a new Farm Bill by Jan. 1, Congress could deal with dairy prices separately. But Peterson and other members of the Agriculture Committee would prefer to have the whole Farm Bill included in the so-called “fiscal cliff” negotiations. “I’ll guarantee you, you bring a [dairy price] extension up on this floor, it has no chance of passing,” Peterson says.

Vince buys his Non-fat Kirkland style milk at at least twice a week for my cereal.

$3.77 for a GIGANTIC two pack - 512 ounces/gallons, whatever.

The day Vince pays $8.17 for milk is the day I figuratively quit eating my Frosted Flakes and Fr00T L00ps.
Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.
