Re: FlashbackI agree. First thing I thought was, what a terrible name, the next thing I thought was, he's a contender, after the race I thought , I wonder what the futures line on him is, cause I'd like him for the derby. Fingers crossed he makes it.
Re: FlashbackNo argument here!
Prelim schedule is the Risen Star gr 2, Fountain of Youth gr 2, Florida Derby gr 1 and the Ky Derby. Thank God for the Federal Reserve. You can't have big government or big wars without them.
Re: FlashbackI watched the replay of Violence and I must say I am not
n away by the race at all. The Hollendorfer horse is not a world beater and he got up by 1.25 lengths under the whip. The gallop out was OK at best. What am I missing?Mr. Super Bowl

The feel. But that's mine. Perhaps one of the preps will find it for you.

You must have been hitting the egg nog hard when you posted this, though I appreciate one taking a stand and getting behind a Derby pick early. Absolutely perfect trip to beat a lovety field in the Cashcall Futurity. Though I will say he has a better chance than Shanghai Bobby. While we are discussing Derby horses, the one I like is Bradester from the Eddie Kenneally barn. He ran 2nd while 10 lengths clear in a very fast debut race and then stretched out and won super impressively at Churchill in a time that was faster than the Kentucky Jockey Club. Definitely one to watch in the winter. He was 125/1 when I last checked the future book odds 3 weeks ago. Certified non player
Re: FlashbackI have to agree with X and TT here... I thought Violence beat a moderate field with a perfect trip in taking the Cash Call Futurity. There were four horses battling ont he lead in front of him, he got a perfect trip and I thought he had more trouble than he should have putting Hollendorfers horse away, who was part of that logjam up front. At no point watching the race did I get that "wow" factor. In addition, looking at him in the paddock, he looked kind of light bodied (perhaps attribuatable to shipping)and the type that may have trouble holding up to the rigors of the Triple Crown trail...
Winning a maiden race can often times be misleading, but I got that "wow" factor watching Flashback break his maiden. His action, the way he blew by Shirreffs horse (who is in over the weekend) effortlessly, how sensational he looked in the paddock, I think he is a future star. Goof, I look forward to seeing how many of these progress in the months ahead..

He reminds me of one of those really good, hard knocking, gritty horses that will be competitive and overacheive, but with his pedigree (Lion Heart out of a Grand Slam mare), nine furlongs will likely be his limit...

Re: Flashback
Any chance? http://www.drf.com/news/gulfstream-park ... -allowance HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. - The Todd Pletcher-trained Verrazano wasn’t the only 3-year-old to put himself into the Derby picture on opening day. Itsmyluckyday obviously threw his hat in the ring with his one-sided victory in the Gulfstream Park Derby. And Bradester likely punched his ticket to the Grade 3 Holy Bull here later this month with a 1 3/4-length entry-level allowance win going 1 1/16 miles a little earlier on the card. Bradester is a son of Lion Heart trained by Eddie Kenneally for owner Joseph Sutton. He started just twice at 2, finishing a well-beaten second in his debut before graduating by 3 1/4 lengths, also at 1 1/16 miles, at Churchill Downs on Nov. 24. He received a career best 90 Beyer for his 3-year-old bow. “He’s a nice horse,” said Kenneally. “We’ve always liked him a lot. He won last time over a distance of ground and he ran well again today. He has a lot of stamina, so distance isn’t going to be a problem for him.” The Holy Bull, which is expected to mark the 3-year-old debut of Shanghai Bobby, will also be decided at 1 1/16 miles on Jan. 26.
