But tell me about the on track attendance????

Let me guess, down 75%?

---------------------------------------------
(information from a former post)
---------------------------------------------
November 11, 2011
- On Track Attendance - 5,151
- Total Handle - $4.632 Million

November 18, 2011
- On Track Attendance - 13,143
- Total Handle - $5.332 Million
---------------------------------------------
November 9, 2012
- On Track Attendance - 1,648
- Total Handle - $5.703 Million

November 16, 2012
- On Track Attendance - 2012
- Total Handle - $5,521 million
--------------------------------------------

I throw in an excuse for November 11, 2011 because there rain all day and most of the evening.

So let's analyze.

Moving from night time to day time, there is a SLIGHT increase in the handle.
2011 - $5.332 million
2012 - $5.521 million

a 3.5% INCREASE!?

Now let's talk about the attendance.

- a 68% decrease from the attendance with BAD weather of WEEK 1 2011, compared to GOOD weather WEEK 1 2012

- a 85% decrease with GOOD weather from the attendance of 2011 to 2012

The handle has remained relatively FLAT
The attendance is on average 75% WORSE
Concessions take a HUGE HIT

No comment until the time limit is up or I am a victim of circumstances beyond my control.

I'm no AXEspurt, but don't you think tracks care more about handle than attendance?

And don't ya think the track LOST money giving away $1 Beers and Tube Steaks?

LIVE racing is over-rated..I've been saying that for years but no one would PAY ATTENTION!

In the interest of "fair and balanced" journalism, I admit being there everyday, attendance is down and the live product seems bleek... HOWEVER, to compare the weather last year to this year, it has been cold, windy and and there has been some precipitation on ELEVEN days this meet. It is less than delightful being there during the day, I can only imagine how awful it would be at night. This past week, for example, it rained at some point every single racing day, Thurs - Sun.

That's funny - it didn't rain inside the casino even once during that time. I did send in my money, most of it non-refundable. :|
Thank God for the Federal Reserve. You can't have big government or big wars without them.

Another fact you failed to point out is that both Nov. 11 and Nov. 18, 2011 there were concerts by Steel Pulse and Rebelution that brought out many fans, who did not gamble. Both bands have huge following, hence the inflated attendance numbers. The comparative Friday's in 2012 at Hollywood Park, there were no concerts, but because it was held during the day where more people on the East Coast could readily gamble, the handle was similar if not more.. How many people would have attended the races those Friday nights WITHOUT the concerts???? Your argument is self serving because of your Friday night Australian gig as well as extremely disingenuous given the concerts and mass promotion (commercial and television) for them.
