Rare Walk Out on a Movie

For only the third time in my life I walked out of a movie early tonight. My wife likes period movies so we went to see Anna Karenina. I'm not the biggest fan of these types of movies, but I enjoyed Atonement, Pride and Prejudice and a few others over the years so we took the daughter and went to see it. It was simply awful. I almost fell asleep in the first 15 minutes and could hear my daughter essentially asking my wife, WTF? After about 20 minutes of squirming torture, my wife leans over and says we can leave if you want. My daughter hesitated about saying something for fear we were enjoying the movie. I couldn't have got out of that theatre any quicker and Mrs. Bob B was really pissed because she was looking forward to seeing it and she couldn't wait to leave either. Consider this a warning to save your hard earned $$$ for the ponies and not waste it on this pathetic work of cinematic art.

Did you even get your free refill popcorn before you left?

Secondly, if that was me, I woulda told the movie manager I got a migraine and axed for a refund.

Thirdly, Vince did this about a year ago. Took the wife and baby to see Avatar. Vince walked out after figuratively less than 17 minutes and went next door to see the Wolfman even though that movie had terrible ratings. Loved the Wolfman, hated what I saw of Avatar basically because I like non-fiction movies and can't stand loving Sci-Fi crap. Have to admit my wife and baby loved Avatar. Maybe it's me.

Call me cheap (I call it being fiscally smart ) but that is why I don't see movies in theaters anymore. Too much money to see something I may or may not like, everything played too loud, theaters too cheap to buy the projector bulbs that bring out the true colors movies were filmed in.

I don't have the urgr to see movies the week they're released.

I can get all the new movies I want at my local library, for free. They get them all pretty darned quick, like the same week they're released in DVD. I sit home at my computer, log into the library's website, find the movie title, enter my card # and put it on hold. The library calls me when it's available. Then I leave the house and pick it up.

They will order brand new movies for patrons who request them, as long as it's a movie a lot of other people want to see.
