This reminds me of the ol' story of the man who had 2 fighting dogs that would compete against each other every week. Miraculously the owner would bet on the winner. A close friend asked him how he'd have such good fortune. The owner asked, "Well, really it's quite simple. The loser would get less to eat that week."

How many hundreds of 2 year old colts are stabled at HOL and SAX? And not a single trainer other than entered one in a Graded $100,000 race?

Well the ride that Martin Garcia put in on Shakin It Up was questionable. I thought would've given him a placing if not blocked. Of all the Baffert horses the least chance wins. Lone speed and that was Really Mr. Greeley. Good ride by Julien Leparoux and certainly making it happen here and I think will be playing a role in the major races here like Rafael Bejarano, Garrett Gomez and Joe Talamo.

Where are the Leparoux haters now?

Cushion Track changed dramatically from last Sunday as speed completely dominated the Thursday card which started Turf Festival week. The Hollywood Prevue kicked off the card and in what amounted to a public workout as Baffert saddled the first four finishers, MR. REALLY GREELY, stepping up off a maiden $100K win, took his foes gate-to-wire to win with the bias as the longest shot on the board under Leparoux. The Horse Greeley colt set a slow pace under a hold, came under pressure around the far turn, cut the corner and inched away again into the lane, clear midstretch, held his more fancied stablemates at bay to the wire. The soft splits led to a subpar rating, the top three finishers will all likely surface in the Hollywood Futurity. Odds-on favorite SUPER NINETY NINE stalked the soft splits two-deep down the backside, came out for the drive, had every chance the final 1/16th, couldn’t get by between horses. SHAKIN’ IT UP had no speed, trailed down the backside, remained at the rear as he angled out upper stretch, got in tight off heels while still last midstretch, came further out and closed fasted the final 1/16th, couldn’t get there. He ran the best considering the raceshape and track profile and is the best of this group. Z BIG APPLE stalked inside under a stranglehold, angled out and moved up to vie three-deep leaving the far turn, was turned back into the lane, outfinished the final furlong. Baffert had too much control of how this race was run, thus it should have been a betless exhibition. HIR KITTY, a Miller trained filly vs. males, trailed early, pulled hard to gain along the rail and stalk midway down the backside, angled out and split horses to vie around the far turn, outrun between horses into the stretch, dropped back to last.
