Agent Tom Knust reported that Pat Valenzuela will be taking some time off to have surgery on his right knee. “He injured the knee at Del Mar,” said Knust, “but, at the time he had Acclamation ready for the Breeders’ Cup, so he put off taking care of it.”

His ride in the 2011 pacific classic aboard acclamation is a masterpiece and he put the field to sleep and nobody didn't get by him. Not even joel Rosario (who supposably is a strong finisher and can outride 99% of the riders in So.cal) on Twirling Candy couldn't even outride someone who's passed their prime.

In P.val's prime he would've rode around in circles with Ramon and in the prime that he's in. Same with all of today's generation of riders including Rosario.

opinions about some jockeys come from what you might have cashed,or something of the sort was P VAL a good rider yes,but better than ramon Dominquez today ,now just shows how distorted your opinion is of him,P val was a good jockey,could you say he was better than shoemaker,eddie d,laffit pincay,jerry bailey,john velasquez,mcarron,or for that matter even chris antley...No he was never better and in many ways was not their equal,and my list of greats could go on and on ,Pat was a good jockey period,his reputation is and will never be as good as any great rider,personally he was obnoxious and still is,he was the first to hawk cash call,legalized loan sharking and just the other day on one of his last rides he was gesturing to the camera giving hand signals and pointing to his pants to hawk cash call....he has no class now and never did before,but my opinion is not generated by wins and losses, it based on unbiased observation and deduction ,I kind of wish some others were also.
