I have not seen this posted. Woodbine has a 20 cent tri, I just saw the results of today races on the bet. They are worth the value of the bet. One can make money. Now why 1. Full fields, 2. Favorites only win a very small percentage of the time. If one plays numbers or handicaps the races, Woodbine is great, one can make money. Management realizes people pay the extra few bucks to cover that horse that other wise one would leave out, why, because we are going over the budget of that one particular race. When we are playing dollars or even 50cent bets , we all know that a tri or a pick 3 or a pick 4, or a pick 5 or even the Pick 6, the bet adds up very fast. I believe the woodbine has the right formula for encouraging the player to pay the extra dollar , however, it does put the odds on the player side. Just remember, getting the odds on your side can make you a winner overall for a season of play. Any Comments.

IMO - 20 cent bets are horrible. And from a track which I don't believe gives you the low takeout on the CA Pick 5 if betting up there. And it dilutes the payoffs if a longshot or two comes in.
just imagine the payoffs if they allowed these bets in places like CA with the 5-6 horse fields.

Well said, with the short fields here, they would be a flop, but as a player up there just to make money , I go to Woodbine.

As usual, another razor sharp editorial by Lester! I had always thought that favourites won approximately 1/3rd of all races at any track in North America. Lester has proved me wrong with his "Favorites only win a very small percentage of the time." statement. I'm still trying to decipher his second paragraph, and might fully understand it by Sunday..

I know we have owners, trainers and players on this forum.
But I am positive about this, we all bet, except Mary, I can't ever imagine her making a wager.
To the weekend warrior as I am looking to make money anyway I can, I don't care about watching this type of race or that type of race or what type of race. We all are here to make money.
When you sit down to play poker, I know one fact, you are trying to beat the brains out of every player at the table and take their money. Correct me if I am wrong on that one.
Now players do you like to watch the horse go around and around or are you playing to make money?

Another wonderful editorial Lester I agree with you. The 20 cent bet is the best incremental bet in racing. One can make a large ticket without breaking the bank, and can be rewarded if 12/1 shots come in. Non-players like Southieboy don't understand that the 20 cent bets put the odds in the player's favor by giving them a chance to win. Canada, Kentucky, and Florida are the only locations where this can happen. In California, between horsemen races, worthless vouchers, and jockey earpieces, the player can't win, so why, even, try, Believe, me on, this, I go to the track, to make the most money with the least overhead. That's why I sneak into Inglewatts under the guise of depositing a account, sneaking in , sneaking in my own Sanka and bringing in my Carlton's.

TT
You understand, one has to make a profit no matter what we play, a lot of 12-1 to 20 to 1 long shots hit at Woodbine.
thanks.
but we do have a huge problem here in California. However, Woodbine handle is doing good for the tri,s and the pick 3, 4 , etc.
This track produces more winners then any other track I know.

Huh? You know, don't you, that at Del Mar we have "a winner in each race"?
