The Player, Some un stable in the mind.-opinion by Lester

Some of you are going to get mad at me what I am going to write. So be it!

The player, When I was Pomona, I took a hard look around the whole complex and what did I see, some of the most disgusting people I have seen in a long time.

that was around 33 1/3 % , their cloths look like they were are skid room and Playing a 10 cent super hoping to hit the big one. (Degenerate gamblers)

Now to the other 33 1/3 %, They look like they were in another world, they sat there like a stone and would not speak anything to anyone, (silent type) I believe their picks were so confidential, nobody on earth could see them. ) I was sitting by 3 people that didn't speak English and drove me nuts. :?

Now to the other 33.1/3 %, just there having a good time and trying to stay out of trouble. Weekend warriors, just like me. The average player trying to win a few bucks.

Including in the throng of people were all types of races, colors and creeds, so horse playing infects us all, the virus we all have is horse playing. Now good or bad, you decide.

Me, I consider just an average player trying to make a score and move on to the next one. (hopefully) ;)

As to ever going to Pomona, Never again. I will drive the extra 20 miles to SA.

As to the future, I will back to the Paddock room at SA, at Del Mar, upstairs in the Crosby room, or the Turf Club at HP, and I will pay gladly the prices to stay away from the first two types of people. :D

Now what category do you belong in as a player.

Another superb editorial, Lester.

Were any of the players you mentioned above wearing plaid shirts or over-sized glasses that would make Harry Caray and Jackie O proud?

Lester, your work is brilliant. There hasn't been a day all year that I haven't been proud to be your fellow forum member. Most horseplayers have been BURIED...the last four years. Way to make Opening Day.

Happen to me once, a 2 day poker game, almost 48 hours long, when I left, I was on another planet.

I prefer the term Scorequick used when he called them "the unwashed ". ;)

Lester, another fantastic Op-Ed on the underbelly of the sport of kings.

My friends and I call the area you speak of "Thunderdome" for some of the reasons you just described.

I hope I am not being too forward when I say I was hoping to hear who else showed up to Fairplex for the BC?
Did Trunch show?
And the question on everyone's mind is " what is Lester's take on the Howling Wolf debacle? " ??
