Banged home a runaway $17.60 winner yesterday with the roughies I liked.
Here are a few I'm looking at today:
Race 3: #6 Country Gold (8/1) badly needed that October 19th effort (won by today's rival Tasya) when making her first start in 8 1/2 months. The 5YO mare gets a stronger pilot in the irons today (Catalino Martinez) and note that all 4 career wins have come here. Expecting better today.
Race 4: Back to the weeds for #1 Seventyprcentcocoa (6/1). Both turf starts resulted in runner-up finishes for Blaine Wright. Finished a good 3rd in a sprint prep on the Tapeta last out and gets a rider upgrade (from the Human Anchor to Alejandro Gomez). Figures to sit close to the pace and outlast the backers in the lane.
Race 8: I think a speed duel will develop between the 2 faves (Madoffwiththemoney and Sister Kate) - setting it up for #7 Advance Ticket (6/1). This charge received a horrible ride in her latest effort two months ago when gunned to the early lead (something that's not her forte) and predictably backed up in the lane. Given time off since, she's rebounded with some strong morning drills and gets a positive rider change to Cedillo. It wouldn't surprise me to see #3 Special Holiday (12/1) hit the board at a big number. She went down in a spill in the Harvest Stakes at Stockton last out (when a Kory Owens-trained runner broke down and fell a stride before the wire in front of her). She's been off the board here just once in 5 starts (5/2-1-1) and can rally for a share.
Race 9: A horse that WILL be overlooked on the board is #2 Monsajem Mimesis (12/1). Connections here are low %, but the 2YO colt didn't run bad at 58/1 for a higher tag last out (when 4th of 12). Drop in class, adds lasix for this 3rd career go and can definitely hit the board (and maybe more) in a field laden with class droppers.
