I am no expert on this storm, but it seems a huge % of the damage is going to be the result of flood waters. I dont think regular property insurance covers flood damage. Now many in the areas in NJ might have that coverage because of the nature of where they live. However, many people and businesses in the NYC and burbs, I doubt would ever consider getting flood insurance.

Lot of lenders have been requiring flood insurance in order to get a mortgage over here. Somewhat of a recent trend the last few years
