Sutherland suspended for failing Woodbine alcohol test

**CHANTAL SUTHERLAND has been suspended 5 days at Woodbine by the ORC stewards after failing the Saturday morning breathalyzer at the track. Sutherland rode Friday at Woodbine and was supposed to ride her brother Hugh’s filly AWESOME FIRE in the Carotene Stakes before she was taken off her mounts. Thoroughblog was to interview the ORC stewards today.

Doubt she is suffering from any depression leading to a drinking problem.. She seems like a girl who likes to have fun and I am sure she had a few too many the night before.

It does look like her career riding in CA has hit a severe speed bump though, hardly any mounts and even fewer wins. Seems like the Game On Dude thing (PC ride and being taken off) was a big to her, it has happened to every jockey, you just have to move on and try and find another big horse.

Food for thought. I was invited to take a winner's circle pic back in January of this year at SA by some owner
friends of mine who used Chantal. After the pic was taken the owner asked if any one wanted the gigantic
bottle of Grey Goose that comes with the victory and wouldn't you know it Chantal took it back to the jock's
room.

As we all know, I have meet Sutherland a half dozen times, she is a very nice lady.

As to the jockey's they're all human, some members look at them as Gods, well people, they put their paints on the same way we do and our human being just like us.

So she went out drinking and having a good time. Good for her, as to coming to work with a hang over, she should have called in sick.

Anyone in the work force, knows that females miss more work then men.

So let her have her five day vacation and she will come back riding more winners.
