Looks like I was at Northampton for his last race in 2004 (though no one really knew it was his last race at the time). The stories of the monumental efforts to hold him back are legendary around New England. Without some gargantuan choke-holds at the county fairs, Zippy would have more wins than Optimizer, Giacomo and Mine That Bird combined . . . .
