That's true. Some of the past years Triple Crown aspirants seem like they were a little stronger.

I'm thinking specifically of Silver Charm and Smarty Jones.

Seems to me that I'll Have Another is on the Charismatic/Funny Cide level.

When we look at, think of I'll Have Another, does he remind us of those super horses who have won the TC...Secretariat, Affirmed, Seattle Slew, et al????

Does he have the look of eagles? Does he have a commanding presence?

No??? I didn't think so.

I like the horse very much but I don't think he is a TC winner. If he does, great, but I can't see it.

Jmho.

I think that Spectacular Bid, Sunday Silence, Silver Charm, and Smarty Jones were the most worthy horses who didn't win the TC.

What about those horses that lost the Derby but then won the Preakness and Belmont?

Point Given is probably the star of that show.

Gary Stevens blames himself for that ride in the Derby but realistically nobody was going to beat Monarchos on that day.

Read that a horse I like for the Belmont Stakes, Mark Valeski, is not doing all that well according to his trainer Larry Jones and may be scratched in favor of the the Dwyer Stakes. Horse is lacking the energy he normally has.

Exactly. Oxley/Ward are longtime Kentuckians.

wasnt a horse alive going to beat monarchos on that day. he ran his guts out and was never the same after. 2nd fastest derby in history, maybe 3rd if you think sham was 2nd fastest. point given showed he was the best of that crop, but point given or no one else was beating monarchos on that day.
