StubHub or E-Bay?

Postby TwentyFiveCentHorse » Fri Apr 13, 2012 12:41 pm

Anyone buy tickets to sporting events on StubHub?

I have always used E-Bay as my source for Laker's or Dodger's tickets but have never tried StubHub.

I'm sure it is safe, but just wanted some input from someone who has actually bought tickets through StubHub.

Also, what kind of fees do they charge, and will I be getting a ton of junk E-Mail from them?

Thank you for any information.

I use Stubhub exclusively about 20-30 times a year. Never tried Ebay for anything so I cant compare.

I find that you can some pretty good last minute deals. It works good for me because I'm usually looking for singles for games around Chicago.

The fee is 4.95 per order and 10% of the total order cost so alot of times the ticket will be $1 and the fees obviously more.

Works good. Sometimes a bit more expensive than face value but better than lining up at the venue for tickets.

I've been selling Cardinals tickets on Stub Hub for four years. It is very safe for buyer and seller. Sellers have to provide a credit card and if the seats they sell aren't available or legitimate, StubHub will buy tickets on behalf of the buyer and charge the seller. The only negative with StubHub is the fees. 15% for selling, 10% for buying plus shipping or printing fees from $5 - $17 depending on the ability to print out electronically or if hard tickets have to be sent via FedEx. I've only bought from Ebay once and had no trouble but it still makes me a little nervous.

Bloker's advice on waiting until the last minute is good if you can be patient. I've seen good Cardinal tickets drop to single digits right before game time for many weekday games and the Cardinals draw very well. I would imagine in cities with less support you could do even better on the buy side.

Case study for tonights Dodger game in Milwaukee:

Club level ticket behind home plate $9
Delivery fee (print ticket at home) $5.45
Service fee $5.00
Total $19.45 for a really nice seat

They actually have a lot of singles listed for under $1. But you still have to pay the delivery and service fees.
I'm sure you could go to Miller Park and get something outside for less than five bucks without the fees.

I'm gonna wait and maybe go tomorrow. They are fighting Mountaineer for my entertainment dollar tonight.
