I know I'm being inconsistent in my posts, but the major drawback with sports wagering at tracks is once horse players realize there's only a 5% take-out in sports wagering vs an approx 25% take-out in horse betting, allowing sports wagering at race-tracks might backfire as handle may shift from horses to sports.

It’s a tough one…great topic by the way.

There is now a second mini-satellite wagering facility (third, if you count the card club in LA), located in Santa Maria.

Where's your friend's bar, CK?

the bar is in oroville ca.the nearest simulcast are, to the north is the shasta county fairgrounds (90 miles) to the south cal expo (80 miles) in oroville they already have two indian casinos. the bar in oroville has a restaurant and is twice the size of the simulcast at the shasta county fair. from what im told the union that the tellers are in are fighting this tooth and nail and from the way i understand the rules a bar cant just hire someone to be a teller but must have someone from the union, and the union doesn't want to have any new union members because they feel it would take those jobs away from existing members. obviously no union members live near here, so existing union members dont want to drive all the way here.

I would be shocked, floored, surprised and all of the above if the crooked pols of California approve any form of regular sports betting. You might see it in a form of those ridiculous football parlay cards they had in the tree bark eating state of Oregon.Where they dance naked in the woods, talk to their bong, and wear zig zag t-shirts,play Grateful Dead 8 tracks in their VW vans and wear Birkenstocks made out of recycled rubber and wine corks.Seriously last time I drove through Oregon I saw a long haired hippie hitch hiking, barefoot with a boda bag on his shoulder. Umm, Sunshine there's a new invention its called a J O B.

Sorry I sort of got off the point. Oregon offered horrible odds on the state run parlay cards.I think you needed to to hit 4 for 4 on a parlay card for a win of 8-1.

Fredo, Fredo, Fredo...if I told you how many people wager without an once of consideration of the odds, you'd prolly faint. I see it right here on this board almost daily.

Heck, look at the Lotto with a 50% take-out and tons of idiots (including me once a year) play it all the time.
