I predict he will have no impact in the Southwest. Will run in the back of the pack the entire race without making any impact. Chart will say "dull." Can't DWL who is in the hall of fame see that this is strictly a grass runner. A blind squirrel could figure that out. He is bred for turf yet DWL is chasing a pipedream. There is ample purse $ in the grass division for him to chase. For Christsakes, DWL get off your high horse!!!!!! As for winning on pure class, he doesn't have any. A maiden winner only. Were you asleep the day they taught Horseracing 101?

You think maybe the OWNER is pursuing his dream? Lukas is keen on Optimizer, I know. It's silly to argue about it when they are going to run the race. With A. P. Indy and Smart Strike as his granddaddys you wouldn't think running on dirt shouldn't be a problem. The goal is, can the horse get 10f, peaking in early May. Like Wayne says, treat them all like champions, and let them disappoint you.

to predict the derby winner in february is like hitting the lottery. i cant remember when one of the feb favorites won the race. optimizer has a better chance than at least 15 of the horses listed on the churchill future bet, because none of those are going to ever get a mile and a quarter and he will. his pedigree, trainer, or owner arent why he gets beat thats for sure. the southwest doesnt set up for him, one mile, short stretch, should he find a way to win this race then he would have to be in anyone's top 12. im just looking for a nice improved race and to be within 5 lengths at the wire, which will make him double tough in the rebel (which again is to short for him) then the ark derby (which again is to short for him)
1st dam by ap indy winner of the belmont 2nd dam by mr. prospector sire of a winner of the derby 3rd dam by riva ridge winner of the derby

for what its worth, dwl had this to say about optimizer this morning he is the best horse to be sure.a lot of the other horses have to improve, move forward and increase thier figures., but talent wise he is already there. the southwest is to short for him, he will better at a mile and an 8th and at a mile and a quarter later on.

I wasn't asleep the day HM climbed on to this board and factually claimed that Uncle Mo won the Kentucky Derby.
