I always find it interesting when a horse debuts with a cool neat recognizable name. Of course this doesn't guarantee that the horse will Win, but when they do, it is "Kind of Cool". A couple of Winning horses with Cool Names recently are as follows below.
Hyman Roth: This horse broke his Maiden at a NYRA track, & then subsequently Won a Grass race on Belmont Day 2013 @ Belmont. When he broke his Maiden. Tom Durkin inserted in his race call, "Hyman Roth Wins & He's bigger than US Steel". Of course a nod to the Godfather Part II Movie.
Kobe's Back: This horse won his debut in a Stakes Race a week or so ago @ Holly & he lived up to his backing, as he broke slowly & last from the gate. But just like his namesake, he rallied to Win easily & impressively. Connections say they are pointing to the Del Mar Futurity. Heres hoping he stays healthy & lures some basketball fans to become T-bred racing fans.
Hildago Legacy: I just happened to be watching the 3rd @ Bel today & this horse took the lead shortly after the start & went on to Win @ $3-1, beating the $3-5 fav. The neat thing about this horse is he looks just like the Movie horse Hildago with a big white blaze on the front of his face.
No kidding sometimes following these horses with cool famous names can be both entertaining & rewarding at the same time.
Good Luck to All thru the Summer @ Del Mar...
thanks for the thread.
fwiw sq shows a positive ROI betting "Jack" horse names.
bit of a stretch per "jack" names but have a small wager on Jacq's Cat in R2 at BHP. 20/1 ML.
I'm positive ROE with horses with Mike or John in their names, LOL...and of course, KIM...
SQ, I have a couple of capping buddies who also use similar methods of betting names of horses & surprisingly they do quite well. That just goes to prove, that Speed & Pace Figs are not the only way to make a buck at the racetrack, Lol.

Rosie, Horses with "Mike" in their name is a sore subject with me, because that's my real name & in the last year or so I've had some major misses. It seems when I bet them they run Otm & when I don't bet them they Win or run 2nd at nice odds.
The most recent example is "Little Mike". I missed him Breeders Cup Day last year because I didn't think he could get the 1.5 Mile distance, so you know what happens, he Wins easily at nice odds. Then last week in the UN Cap @ Monmouth he runs Otm. Geezie Peezie!
