Two races in a row this guy has lost against mediocre competition. Something is up. Yes I know he stumbled and threw the jockey @ GP. While training at Oaklawn Wilkes says ' He loves it here and skipped over the track". Then he throws a clunker and comes in 5th in the Oaklawn Handicap.Sorry but he'll be a auto-toss for me in the Alysheba on May 3rd.
No need to apologize for tossing him Fredo, that is the objective of the game after all. I too will probably play against him. I foresee him being an underlay in the Alysheba from all the "uninformed" money.
Haha ha ha....I would never want to be in the category of informed money.I've had too many losing days over 30+years.This could be a long story but I'll make it short and sweet. 5,6 years ago I was invited to the DM paddock before a race. The horse was owned in a partnership with the trainer and 2 owners. All three of them are big bettors. So after all the hello's, howz you doing, etc I lean over to the trainer and say" What do you think"? he goes " it looks good". I look up at the tote and were sitting at 7/2. So now I'm practicing my Jackie Gleason dance in the sports pub on the 1st floor. Go to the windows with 5 min to post and empty my pockets on the horse.I bet400.00 plus. So now the gate is being loaded and next thing I know I'm standing next to the owners watching the monitor.I says"this should be a blast" The owner looks at me and says "Too bad its not our day" WHAT ? I run back to the window trying to cancel all my tix and get the window shut on my fingers. The race goes off my horse is mid pack and barely gets 4th.The winning horse goes off at boxcars and these two mooks are high fiving.I felt like the biggest chooch around."Not our day?" I felt like Brando in "On The Waterfront".I will say that next spring at Keenland the same owners and trainer made up for it with a 20-1 shot. There is no doubt in my mind the race was on the up and up.I just misread the conversation in the paddock.
Fort larned is one of many, many horses who were the beneficiaries of a souped up,speed -golden rail at Santa Anita. His,like most others, performance that day was fraudulent.Other horses to come back off that golden rail and lose at incredibly low odds:My Miss Aurelia,Beholder,Trinniberg,Lumber Guy,Mucho Macho Man(with ft larned),Shanghai Bobby etc.. Betting against the Bc speed horses has been very, very fruitful.
Ummm, Trinniberg won the BC sprint @ 13-1
Avatar - Lords Table winning the Bull Rastus Handicap at Los Al, 9/9/05, Russel Hadley up.
Very good point. Still I will want to see the field assmebled at Churchill before taking too strong of an opinion against Fort Larned.
hes been good, but best horse in the country?

Agree with you.You always have to take with a grain of salt.when a virtually unknown horse like Cyber Secret turns into a superhorse at a track owned by the horse's owner.Charles Cella owns both Cyber Secret and Oaklawn Park.
