With the defection of Super 99,and the new point rules specifically keeping sprinter types out of the Derby, can anyone remotely run early with GOLDENCENTS(Verrazzano cant)?
He is the clear and ONLY speed of this crop.Historically,2 speed types from california have gotten pummeled in the wagering on race day.Lion Hearted went fron 7-1 to 5-1 in the last flip against Smarty Jones, and last year Bodemeister went from 6-1 to 4-1 in the last flash.Reportedly, a huge west coast punter made both bets(roughly 1.5 million to win). With Goldencents looking exactly like those 2,I wouldnt be suprised at all to see him take all the late money to be favorite. If he gets 10 furlongs,it is his race to lose.
Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.

Usually you'd be right, but not this year.No horse has any speed to run with Goldencents. And no speed ball is gonna sneak in either.Im not saying Goldencents is a lock yet, because you have to see how the track is playing. If the rail is very deep, like it is very often at Church, than you have to assess accordingly.
Goldencents is definetly the horse that I fear most as an Orb backer. On the other hand he is one of the favorites to finish last, if that makes sense. Lonely lead or not your kidding yourself if you think distance isnt a major question mark.

I know Beyer, and am at odds with him all the time. But even he sometimes is right.Goldencents(and Flashback) ran the fastest prep,BY FAR.None of these horses have run as fast,or have any early speed. He has a huge advantage.
As for Orb,Im a huge fan as I cashed nicely twice on him at Gulf.He is one of a few with a real chance. However,if you go back to his maiden win over Revolutionary,Revolutionary was stuck in the 1 hole at Aqueduct on what was one of the "deadest rails" in the last 10 years. It was at least a 10 length detriment. His courageous run on that rail only losing to orb by a few means that they are incredibly similar in ability. There really is no difference between the 2.However the price on Rev will be a whole lot more enticing.
if the rail is playing lightning fast all day and eveything is winning on the rail all day if a speed horse draws the rail in the derby he has absolutely no chance of winning the race none zero, impossible.
What you talkin bout Willis??
