Time to play some Poly-capper this week...we'll see how that goes...
R7 Northern Spur
Seems like a pretty wide open race to me. Balance of Power could fit in here pretty well, and I like the 12-1 m/l!
R8 Oaklawn Handicap
There's Fort Larned and a bunch of optional claimers here (Optimizable excluded...). So, how low will he go? I'll take Fort Larned at even money or more. If he's lower than that, I'll go with Atigun.
R9 Count Fleet
There's a couple in here who have been knocking around with better (Justin Phillip, Flashpoint). This is probably Justin Phillips' race to lose, but I'm guessing he's going to be a really short price. If he's 6/5 or so, I'll go with him. If not, I'll look at Laurie's Rocket if he's 3-1 or better, otherwise, I'll go for a slight price with Gentlemen's Bet, who looked lights out against (admittedly) much cheaper ones than here. (whew)
War Academy looks very good here. 2-1 seems to be a square price. Not sure where I'll go if he's lower. Probably see where Oxbow is at, but if he's less than 3-1, I'll just watch the race.
Here's the dilemma with Poly-capping...Candyman E and Bernie the Maestro both look fabulous here. I'm leaning towards Candyman E because he's been knocking heads with better ones than Bernie has. BUT Bernie's had a very good race on this track, while Candyman E hasn't. I'll still go with Candyman E if he's 2-1 or better. If not, then go with Bernie if he's 2-1 or better. Otherwise, I'll watch.
Something Extra looks good here. 9/2 would be a very nice price. At least this is on the turf...
I'll stick with the Cali girl and take Byrama. At least she ran at Del Mar, so she might not mind the plastic here.
R9 Jenny Wiley
This should be an awesome race! I've liked Centre Court for a long time now, but I'm going to go with Daisy Devine here, who loves the track *and* should be able to get to the front where she'll be super tough.
R10 Blue Grass
The confidence is *not* high here. I could make the case for a handful of these. One thing's for sure, I'm going to let Java's War beat me. I think his rush at the end of the Tampa Bay Derby isn't an indication that he's a live horse coming into here. I am a big trip handicapper, so I'll give Palace Malice a big shot here. The more I watch the Louisana Derby, the more I think that he could have had a piece of the pie there if he got a better trip (and what about Sunbean???? I *REALLY* want to bet him next out). 8-1 seems awfully high, so let's hope it stays there and he gets a better trip! (and likes the Poly! )
Good luck all!
Seems hard to settle on War Academy's 2-1 as a fair price, when his record is 3-2-0-0 and he beat 4 horses last out and ran 4th in a 7f graded race. Yep, he could be a mosnter. Nice 7f workout on 4/7. I would need some longer odds to bet him straight-up. He may not beat Den's Legacy.

a bunch of optional claimers in the oaklawn handicap? this is by far the best field of horses assembled for one race this year. who ever wins this race would have to be considered the best horse in training in north america. unless you consider game on dude better.
Kee BG - #12 West Hills Giant seems to chart very well. 20-1. He's in my exotics. Wonder if we will really get 8-1 on Palace Malice? Hope so.
Looking for Overananyze and Oxbow in the first two in Ark.
Ok, CK, I *know* you like your Optimizer, but I think you're overselling this race...of course, I'm guilty of underselling it...but still...
I'll take a good look at West Hills Giant. I tend to overlook his type so thanks!
And, regarding the Ark Derby, I get your point on War Academy, but losing to Shakin It Up by 2 lengths certainly isn't something that worries me. I like Shakin It Up a lot, and other than Oxbow, none of the others in the race really look all that menacing to me, so 2-1...well, seems fair to me .
Overanalyze is a tough one for me to get a bead on. I think he really needed a race in the Gotham. Just looked tired at the end of that race. But, at the same time, I don't think he's really beaten anyone *that* good, so I'm not completely sold on him.

He most definitely needed that last race, it was first back after a 3 month layoff. I think his races are perfectly timed for the Ark derby and the Ky derby. Watch his Remsen race last December (9f).
there are 5 or 6 g1 winners in the race
