Los Alamitos withdrew an offer Tuesday to expand its racetrack to accommodate Thoroughbred racing and training beginning in 2014, citing disagreements with the California Thoroughbred Trainers over the proposed racetrack expansion and a desire to avoid a showdown with Fairplex Park on acquiring racing dates.
Brad McKinzie, a consultant with Los Alamitos, said Tuesday that track owner Ed Allred could resume discussions about an expansion, if Thoroughbred industry officials deem the Fairplex Park proposal unsatisfactory. McKinzie challenged safety concerns expressed earlier this month by the CTT regarding the expansion of the current five-eighths-mile track at Los Alamitos to a circumference of just less than a mile.

For them to expand, they would have to come up with a huge sum of large cash, Plus get the racing dates.
That as I been saying all alone, it will never happen.
Now , FairPlex is wishing upon a star.
Try to get one penny out of the L.A. County Board of Supervisors or the State for Horse Racing from them.
It will never happen
Del Mar here we come.
There's no law saying SoCal has to have three (3) Class-A tracks. Hollywood Park died of natural selection.
Land prices in California, anywhere near the Coast or more than two houses is just too darn expensive. It happened to motorsports there also, and Ontario Motor Speedway was (I thought) out in the middle of nowhere. Maybe golf courses are the next targets. The State can make any business prospect attractive or prohibitive with a stroke of a fountain pen, or in Brown's case, a crayon.
Maybe Turf Paradise is the next big thing.
When HP goes Bye Bye
Cal racing will go into an emergency mode
Believe me, plans are on the table and deals have been made behind close doors
SLRD (Bonsall) would work for a few hundred horses. It needs some money to fix it back up a little, but the track surface from most people I know out there, is very good. owns it, it was in escrow recently but fell out. Its so far away from LA, would work well during Del Mar, but year round could only see horses who were not going to racing in the immediate future being shipped out there.
