If he drew the rail in the Derby, with the way the gate is slanted to fit it into the stretch, I dont know what he would do? Only thing I could guess he would take back to last and begin to make a sweeping 12 wide move somewhere up the backstretch.
LOL ! Agree with you on BB comment for ol Javier. Just an opinion , but he belongs in the Overated Hall of Fame with Leparoux.
i keep hearing how much luck is involved in winning the derby, if thats the case why does the derby winner keep running huge in the preakness every year? every post is good in the kentucky derby except 1-2-3, best possible draw is #19 regardless of running style.
I thought it was strange that people say Mine That Bird was a piece of feces but he ran 2nd in the Preakness and 3rd in the Belmont, but people say 'yeah, if he wasn't a piece of crap he would have won all three'.
Mine That Bird was a legit KY Derby winner. He blew the doors off that field, he proved he was no fluke two weeks later in Maryland. Was he a great horse? No, but he got good at the right time and he proved his quality during the Triple Crown.
