Your Derby horse

Postby Fredo » Mon Feb 25, 2013 11:13 am

When all the preps are done and you begin capping the big race does it matter to you how fast your selection ran in his previous prep race ? For me a long time ago my answer would be yes it mattered. Now days no because of the huge field I usually look for a colt who is a fighter and who will race not more than 4,5 off the lead turning for home. Or even better can pass horses on the final turn. What say you?

I look for a fresh horse on the improve Fredo who may have already overcome some kind of major trouble in previous races.
Like for instance Revolutionary who didn't run all that fast but overcame huge trouble in his race to win.

Not only will Orb win the derby he will win the Belmont as well. The Preakness will probably be the hardest one for him to win but for people hoping to see a Triple Crown winner this year Orb is the most likely to do so.

What odds will you give me? I bet I'llHaveAnother at 44-1 last year to win the triple crown before the derby. It would have turned into 3/5 Belmont day but we all know what happened.

Tough to call a TC winner on Feb 25th. It does appear the horse likes distance. Came out of the race just fine. Shug is certainly capable of having him ready. But still....

Gotta see the Gr I mile and an eighth races before a statement like that.
Thank God for the Federal Reserve. You can't have big government or big wars without them.

That's exactly what I'm thinking Kermit. A TC winner prediction and it's not even March yet. Reminds me of Dennis Green's
"Crown them now" speech after losing to the Bears on MNF years back.
