Re: Violence
Ernie, people view races differently, and Violence is obviously a talented horse, but I do not think he "exploded" in that race. I thought he was more workmanlike on victory, benefitting from a good trip and four horses battling on the lead in front of him... In a race like the Derby, workmanlike is good... One could make a case that Hollendorfers horse ran the best race in the Cash Call.., as he was part of the duel and kept trying to the wire. Oxbow is not as good as the winner, but he had an extremely wide trip in there as well....
Re: Violence
What happened to that Hollendorfer one?
Re: ViolenceThere's been so many opinions on how he looked in that last race, I'm convienced we all did NOT see the same race!
I saw a future champion (knock on wood), the up-coming races will tell us. Thank God for the Federal Reserve. You can't have big government or big wars without them.
Re: Violence
Fury Kapcori has been turned out.....
Re: ViolenceViolence was good in the Call, but the only other real runner(Oxbow) in that race had a 5 wide trip which killed him. Violence's race in the stake at Aqueduct is not highly regarded at all. There was a tremendous outside bias(as there was all fall on the main at the big a).Violence was 5 wide on the best part of the track beating a Breen runner named Vegas No Show, who has since come back to lose several races he was supposed to win.At the beginning of the summer I had not even heard of Violence, and I hang out with some of Pletcher's people all the time, and they love to gab about their best horses.Maybe he is a surprise to them,as that happens ooccasionally, but I doubt it.Think He is a pretender.
Re: Violence
re the race at Aqueduct - why didn't every jockey take the 'tremendous outside bias' and win with their mounts? All a horse can do is win the races he is put into. Violence has done that, at three different tracks, on both coasts, as a 2YO. Someone must like him, he was 4/5 in his Saratoga maiden win at 7f, a race he could have lost but showed good determination in the stretch. He seems to get better with distance. That's why they call it gambling, I reckon. Thank God for the Federal Reserve. You can't have big government or big wars without them.
Re: Violencehasnt it seemed like violence has gotten perfect trips in all his races?
Re: Violence
Two different (but very good) jockeys, different tracks, different distances. Maybe Violence is one of those "he's so intellegent" kind of horses that allows himself to be handled by the jockey, and like all the great ones, has more than one move? Or we can just all call him Lucky. Thank God for the Federal Reserve. You can't have big government or big wars without them.
Re: Violence
"Workmanlike" was the adjective I have used to describe his two-year-old campaign...We'll see if/how he progresses at three...
