Very interesting stats Fredo, especially considering AP's dad and his mom's dad BOTH won the Darby but neither of them have sired a Darby winner either.

not to mention that it sometimes skips a generation...sire of sires? BM sire? Many duds at stud made up for it in his offspring's offsprings.....no?

Agree Rose. AP Indy has produced quite a few G1 winners in the older division.

just think about it. what are we coming up to 138 derbies? so thats at least 7 generations of sires
during that 138 years how many stallions have thier been? millions for sure but only 138 winners and
not to many sires, sired more than 1 winner. one things for sure. the winner of this kentucky derby will have either
northern dancer or raise a native in the pedigree or most likely both. as a matter of fact i bet you cant find one horse
running this weekend in the united states at any track who isnt from one of those sires and 99% will have both in the pedigree.
the exception would be a foreign bred horse.
when i hear how this horse or that horse has war admiral or some such stallion from way back when in the pedigree it makes me laugh, its harder to find horses
who doesnt have those sires in the pedigree than to find horses that do.

Nope but they're related somewhere, I think.

AP Indy's dad was Seattle Slow. AP Indy's mom's dad was Secretariat.
