Best line ever! Is Michael Hiltzik a Prophet or what?

Cadiz water deal was all wet the last time

Keith Brackpool's latest plan to tap 'surplus' Colorado River water for the Southland had been rejected in 2002. Now he's got some powerful backing.

People who say that nothing's harder to get rid of than a bad penny must never have met Keith Brackpool.

This is what's wrong with the United States of America. An unelected government official in charge of regulating an industry quits and gets a piece of the action of one in the private companies he was regulating. How is that not payback? Not only that, he's a foreigner appointed by a foreigner now working for a foreigner.

As for horseplayers, they will continue to be pinched and squashed like a hamster in a special education classroom.

http://www.paulickreport.com/news/the-b ... respected/

Excerpt:

Brackpool, who has chaired the racing regulatory body for three years and has been a CHRB member since September 2009, is prohibited from lobbying the horse racing board for one year under regulations of the Fair Political Practices Commission, Title 2, Division 6, California Code of Regulations. In addition to his equity position with the Group, Brackpool is joining the company’s board of directors and is chairman of its California operations.

“There is a very strict one-year policy, and we are completely in adherence to that law,” Brackpool told the Paulick Report. “It will be completely respected.”
